Talk about a golden opportunity to close the gap on the leading two teams in the Premier League. Chelsea failed where West Ham recently succeeded by only managing a 0-0 draw with a limited Liverpool team and their manager is peeved that his team couldn’t defeat the Reds. The BBC report that Avram Grant was most disappointed by his team’s passing of the ball, something that many would argue is fairly key to winning matches!
“I am very disappointed,” said Grant. “We had a chance to close the gap at the top but we did not take it.
“The main problem we had was that the quality of our passing was not good.”
“It is not easy against Liverpool,” added Grant. “Especially away from home they play very tactically.
“In the end we created chances to win the game but we did not take them.”
When Avram says the Merseyside club played tactically, it’s surely a polite way of saying that it was a pretty defensive formation from the Reds. Although the visitors had a couple of chances, they will surely be the happier team at coming away with a draw against one of the ‘Big Three’, thus emulating their city rivals Everton.
