Those with a penchant for the NBA must certainly be familiar with the name Steve Nash. He is one of the best basketball players around in the States and is star for the Phoenix Suns.
There’s another facet to his character and that is his perennial passion and love for the English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur. He is quoted as saying that he loves the club and that he would like to be involved with the club someday in the future.
First about his support for Spurs:
Unlike them(American owners of various football clubs), I’ve been a passionate supporter all my life. My parents are from north London and so it’s not like I’m some Yank who wants to make a profit out of football. I don’t care about making money. I just want to see Spurs succeed and, if I can help, that’s great.
And now about his wish to get involved with the club at a later stage in his life:
I’m completely behind the group that’s there now and I love what’s going on at Spurs at the moment. But I would definitely love to be part of Spurs once my [basketball] career is over. I’ve got plenty on my plate right now and so I can’t imagine exactly how it might work but it’s a big goal of mine.
At this stage I’m just in casual contact with Daniel Levy and Damien Comolli and we’re not necessarily speaking about how I might get involved. They know how much the club means to me but at this point it’s more a friendship than a business partnership.
He might be a fan of Spurs but his venture into the running of the north London club would invariably spark cynicism as his motive would come under a huge gray cloud. Yet at the moment, let’s give him the benefit of the doubt and believe what he is saying.
