Manchester United winger victim of laser beam attack

Earlier in the season, Didier Drogba appeared to have a green laser beam pointed in his direction during a game against West Ham. Now, it appears that Cristiano Ronaldo has been on the receiving end of something similar while warming up for Manchester United’s match against Lyon on Wednesday night. The BBC report that Sir Alex Ferguson had the event reported, although whether any action will be taken is unclear.

“We reported the matter to Uefa before the game,” said Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

“We noticed it in the warm-up and they (Uefa) are aware of it.”

Are these type of incidents set to become more commonplace at football stadiums? While Ronaldo had a quiet game and failed to get on the scoresheet, Carlos Tevez’s late equaliser means United are strong favourites going into the second leg in a fortnight’s time.
