Earlier in the week Everton manager David Moyes was hailing his boys and was exhibiting confidence that the Toffees could go on and even win the UEFA Cup this season. Although that optimism might appear somewhat far-fetched at the moment, yet Everton’s 6-1 drubbling of SK Brann in the second leg of their last 32 tie has certainly multiplied Moyes’ confidence.
Speaking after the match, Moyes said:
We have scored a few goals here at Goodison. It was a professional job and we could not take any chances with the team we put out tonight. The result marked a seventh consecutive win in Europe, a new club record and Moyes was pleased with the quality in front of goal. For the first half hour we did not play that well so the first goal was crucial. The finishing and the quality of our play was excellent.
David Moys must certainly be enjoying what he is seeing right now. Everton currently fourth in the table in the English Premier League and do have a great chance of sustaining that position until the end of the season. For the Everton faithful, the season is getting more and more entertaining and now that they are into the last 16 of the UEFA Cup, there could still be more fireworks at Goodison Park between now and the end of the season.
