Newcastle takeover talk dismissed by chief

Are Newcastle United set to become the subject of a takeover? Not if you listen to the words of chairman Chris Mort, who The Times report has dismissed any suggestion that owner Mike Ashley is set to cut his losses and let another poor blighter set fire to his cash invest into the club who are currently the laughing stock of English football. Mort insists that the current board members are in for the long haul, looking forward to the delights of the Championship next season.

“The reality is that the Alan Shearer story and the PCP story were both absolute rubbish,” he said. “Alan has obviously denied he has been approached by a consortium and we had never heard of PCP until Monday’s story.”

More rumour-mongering at work for a club which have been hindered by lies, damn lies but not too many statistics for plenty of seasons now. On the field, Newcastle go into Saturday’s match against Manchester United just six points above the relegation zone and in desperate need of a win.
