Spurs preparing to outbid Chelsea for one of La Liga’s best

Let the summer madness begin, David Villa the quality pint sized Valencia striker has apparently confirmed he wants to quit La Liga and follow his pal Fernando to the Premier League.

Chelsea and Tottenham have been put on red alert after Valencia striker David Villa admitted he could quit La Liga at the end of the summer. (BBC rumours)

Now we are probably talking about upwards of 25m for the 26 year old Spanish international and whilst Spurs may have some cash available for Juande Ramos to invest in his new look squad they are unlikely to compete with moneybags Chelsea. However the truth is Chelsea need strikers far more than Spurs do anyway. With Didier ‘I’ve been hit with a hammer in the knee so I will fall on the floor’ Drogba apparently on the way out the options for Avram Grant are not so fantastic in the striking department, only 16 of their 49 league goals have come from recognised forward players. Spurs on the other hand are pretty much covered in that department so no real need for Villa really.
