All this talk of the great youngsters on show at the Emirates has somewhat overshadowed the youthful look of the table toppers at Old Trafford. Sure Sir Alex’s mob may not all be in the same teen years group as Wenger’s but the still have a nucleus of a very young outfit that is already ripping apart the opposition.
Within the current Man United squad there are six truly talented youngsters, under the age of 24, who are either on the top of their game or on the way to the top as we speak. Anderson for one is a talent that is truly awesome, Cristiano Ronaldo at just 23 has already amassed over 200 appearances in a Red Devils jersey.
Wayne Rooney is also pretty much a spring chicken at only 22 years of age and already more than a ton of top level goals for club and country. Add to this trio the likes of Nani, Ben Foster and Carlos Tevez, all 24 year old or under.
These players, Ben Foster aside, have already proved themselves on the highest stage and the United squad as a whole has a nice mix of youth and experience, with a few veteran names to add something to the blend.
Maybe this mixture is the best way to go and this could be why Ferguson’s side has managed to keep its collective head whilst those around them have faltered.
Also add to the equation the exciting youngsters. out on loan or impressing in the youth set-up. The likes of Frazier Campbell, already rumoured to be valued at a cool 4m, his goals have helped Hull City pursue a unlikely Premier League push. Then you have the likes of Danny Simpson, Jonny Evans, Darron Gibson and Lee Martin all doing a good job whilst on loan to Premier and Championship sides.
All in all those who claim that Wenger has future titles sewn up should take a closer look at those slightly older kids at Old Trafford.
