Now it isn’t something that you’ll hear very often but Manchester United’s title hopes could depend on Darren Fletcher. But before you raise your arms up in disbelief, thinking I’ve lost it, I don’t mean in a way that the shiny Premiership trophy’s home for the next 12 months are influenced by Ronaldo, Rooney or Anderson.
With Darren Fletcher being out for six weeks Manchester United have lost a vital squad player. As the season ends, players like John O’Shea, Park Ji Sung and Darren Flecther are going to be vital to Manchester United as they chase the Premiership and Champions League trophies.
I for one have never been a fan of Darren Fletcher and have often been heard to swear upon hearing of his inclusion in a vital game, but 21 appearances this season show that he has his role to play as a squad player and is important to United’s season.
If Fletcher is injured, surely it means that players like Ronaldo and Rooney cannot be rested against ‘lesser teams’, therefore reducing their freshness and impact, therefore reducing United’s attacking prowess, therefore reducing their chances of success.
Sir Alex, as always, blames the national teams…
We’ve had a bad blow with Darren and it emphasises the futility of playing these friendly games.
He should have played for 45 or 60 minutes at most, but he played the full game so he’s out for six weeks.
