Kevin Keegan’s return to St James’ Park hasn’t exactly been a triumph but to be fair he hasn’t had a great deal to work with as it seems Big Sam felt obliged to bring in a great number of real top quality donkeys to the club. Toon Army fans know the players I am referring to so I won’t bother naming them! Therefore Keegan is obviously eyeing up players for next season when I think Newcastle will still be in the Premier League.
The Magpies will be busy in the summer as they are also targeting Tottenham winger Aaron Lennon and former Arsenal wideman, Jose Antonio Reyes. (The People)
It does seem that Aaron Lennon is suffering a great deal with self belief. He has had a fair few torrid performances where nothing seems to go right. He beats a man and then loses the ball, or he beats a man tries to cross the ball and hit’s an opposition defender in the knee. However the England international is a class act and as such I doubt Ramos wants to axe him. As for signing Jose Antonio Reyes, well that could end up being a mistake of ‘Luque’ type proportions. Clearly Newcastle are in need of some solidity at the back and some more creativity in midfield. Reyes would be a mistake and a costly one at that. I am a big fan of the north-east club and their supporters but it does seem that things have moved backwards in recent years but i do think that King Kev could be the one to work the magic back on Tyneside.
