West Ham to smash transfer record with a £10m bid for a player with dodgy knees?

This is an odd one. West Ham boss Alan Curbishley is apparently considering smashing the club’s transfer record for a full back (not usually the priciest position to purchase) not only that but this is a full back with an injury record that would make Darren Anderton and Michael Owen envious!

West Ham are lining up a bid for right back is valued by Brescia at £10 million rated Brescia full back Marco Zambelli. The 22-year-old has been injured for the best part of two years during his fledgling career having had four knee operations, two on each leg. (The Times)

This speculation obviously stems from the fact that Brescia’s sports chief Gianluca Nani is moving to West Ham in the summer as the club’s new technical director but surely this looks a very expensive recipe for a disaster!
