Given the fact that Martin O’Neill appears to be worried about the fact that Rafa Benitez may want the dream pairing of Ashley Young and Gabriel Agbonlahor, maybe the Villa boss would be interested in a swap deal of monumental proportions!
At some point or another in recent reports Aston Villa have been linked with four Liverpool players;
Peter Crouch has been linked with a £8m move to Aston Villa (The People)
O’Neill is unwilling to pay Liverpool £10m for on-loan Scott Carson (Daily Mirror)
John Arne Riise is linked with a £7m move to Aston Villa, but is also attracting attention from Newcastle (various)
O’Neill is being linked with a £5m close-season move for Jermaine Pennant, the Liverpool winger (The Times)
So that’s four players who have very recently all been apparently considered by the Villa boss. Now it’s obvious that the Midlands side want to keep their stars, but is there any merit in cashing in on them in view of improving the squad as a whole?
It may well be stretching the imagination but I have taken legitimate rumours involving the multiple deals and am wondering if the deal is palatable with either Liverpool or Aston Villa fans?
