Amid the touchline love-in at Old Trafford on Sunday, underneath the hugs and whispered sweet nothings that Sir Alex Ferguson doled out to his new buddy, lays a deep aching chasm within Arsene. For the umpteenth season in a row, Arsene won’t be able to bring home a trophy. Whilst maintaining that the current crop is capable of pushing for the title next season, a wee dram of realism entered Wenger’s post match chit chat, the Frenchman said:
“I’m not an idealist [and] I feel we must win trophies. We lacked a bit of maturity in some games but trophies will come.”
So on one hand Arsene claims his current side have it in them to win the title, and on the other he concedes that he knows he needs to bring home the trophy bacon. Can he do both of these things, win a trophy AND keep his current crop?
