Feyenoord’s attacking midfielder Jonathan de Guzman has announced his intention to leave Holland for his ‘dream move’ – and that’s to Arsenal or Barcelona!
Talking of ongoing speculation linking him with a £10m move away from the Eredivisie, Guzman said: “My dream clubs are Arsenal and Barcelona. If clubs of their stature are interested then you can’t say no. I am certainly open to possible interest from that corner and from what I have heard lately, Feyenoord are happy to hear from them as well. The stories linking me with Arsenal motivate me, but I have been reading them for two years already. Up until now there has not been a concrete offer.” (Sportweek magazine)
The Canadian-born 20-year-old gained his first experience in the Dutch Under-21 side last month. He clearly liked it, scoring twice and assisting a third goal. He is now close to a senior call-up and could be pushing for a place in Marco van Basten’s Euro 2008 squad.
He has been in sparkling form this season and now seems set to leave the club he joined aged 12. Do Arsenal fans like the idea of adding another sparkling attacking midfielder with – should they invest their money elsewhere?
