When Chelsea forward Nicolas Anelka made his move from the Reebok to Stamford Bridge earlier this year, you had to wonder where the striker was going to fit in. After all, he was coming into a system that, at the time, was running a 4-3-3 that didn’t seem to fit the Frenchman’s style. For whatever reason, Anelka decided to go for the trophies and glory, even though there was a chance he could end up on the flank.
Well after spending the better half of a season at Chelsea, “Whiney” Anekla has made it clear that he’s tired of the 4-3-3, and that if Chelsea don’t move to a 4-4-2 like they promised, that he’s prepared to go to greener pastures.
“I was told I would play in a 4-4-2 system,” Anelka said. “I didn’t come here to play on the right or on the left. In England, I need to prove my worth as a centre forward.” (Guardian.co.uk)
So what’s your take Chelsea supporters? Is Anelka worth moving the formation around for him, or is he better off taking his complaints and going elsewhere?
