Liverpool boss is surely too clever to make this £15m mistake?

Once again a gaggle of clubs are supposedly after Blackburn midfielder David Bentley as news filters through that Mark Hughes hasn’t actually offered a new contract to the England man.

Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham are all waiting in the wings to make a bid for £15m rated Blackburn Rovers man Bentley, however talk of the former Arsenal man turning down a deal at Ewood Park are off the mark.

But a senior Blackburn source said: “It’s not right to say David has turned down a new contract because we haven’t actually put one in front of him yet.” (various)

As i have said before i think the bidding war for the somewhat overly praised misfit is in my opinion a big mistake. Most fans seem to agree that the valuation is too pricey and the risk too high to waste on the 23 year old. I credit Rafa with more intelligence than to bid for Bentley and likewise Juande Ramos, both men are pretty often shrewd with their money and i suspect a move to Stamford Brdige where his career will stagnate a far more likely destination for the Rovers man who appears to have upset quite a few Blackburn supporters with his “i’m too big for this club” attitude. Do Liverpool or Spurs fans think there sides should touch him with a bargepole? Have loyal Rovers fans had enough? Or are people judging the assist machine by the media who may have painted an ugly picture of Bentley?
