Given the fact that Rafa has set his heart on England international Gareth Barry and that Aston Villa want appear to want a good half a dozen Liverpool players, a swap deal might help Martin O’Neill get over the loss of his £15m rated captain, but should this player be used as a makeweight?
Gareth Barry has made it clear he wants to quit Aston Villa for Liverpool and striker Peter Crouch may head in the opposite direction. (Daily Star)
Barry himself has hinted at a move away from Villa Park by suggesting he needs to be playing Champions League football to be considered an England regular. (Various £)
Villa also want Scott Carson, that seems pretty certain, and they have also (according to reports) shown interest in John Arne Riise and Jermaine Pennant in the past, so maybe Benitez could offer that trio instead of Crouchy? To be fair I think most Liverpool fans would consider that a much better deal, even if it did mean losing three squad players! What do Anfield supporters think is a fair price for Mr. Barry?
