Reports are filtering through about another top-class purchase of the summer at White Hart Lane, as Ramos appears to have signed a La Liga ace.
Tottenham are closing in on a £9.5million move for Espanyol ace Luis Garcia.
Boss Juande Ramos is ready to make his latest major move of the summer by bringing the highly-rated forward to White Hart Lane.
The Spaniard has scored 24 goals in 79 games since joining Espanyol three years ago.
Reports from Spain suggest the deal could be completed by next week with Garcia — not to be confused with the ex-Liverpool star of the same name — joining new arrivals Luka Modric, Giovani Dos Santos and John Bostock in North London.
Ramos is also chasing Blackburn’s wantaway star David Bentley, while he is ready to sell up to 15 first-team squad members. (The Sun)
Tottenham are reported to have had a second bid for Espanyol goal machine Luis Garcia accepted, as Benfica moved in to try and hijack the deal. (footylatest.com)
Whether Garcia is seen as a potential replacement for either Berbatov or Keane, both strongly linked with an exit, is still up for debate. However what Tottenham have secured is a forward with a good degree of top-level experience and a player on the fringes of the Spanish national team. Whilst this addition is by no means spectacular, it is solid and yet more evidence to show that the north London side is assembling a top class squad who could challenge for a top-four finish in the near future.
