Milan out of the race to sign Arsenal striker – will he stay after all?

While we can breathe a sigh of relief that a deal has finally been struck to remove the weedling that is Alexander Hleb from Ashburton Grove, there is still another saga concerning an Arsenal forward which has a bit more mileage left in the tank. Milan have confirmed that there is not a cat’s chance in hell of them signing Emmanuel Adebayor this summer, leaving just one club with their hat still in the ring. Will Barcelona give the Togolese striker the wonga he wants?

The Guardian report that Milan have seemingly lost interest in signing the forward, perhaps it was his incessant wage demands, along with Arsenal’s refusal to accept nothing less than top dollar for one of their prize assets.

The Togolese, who is due to return to training on Monday, has angered Arsenal supporters with his demands for a massive wage hike. Milan had made him their priority summer target but after taking Ronaldinho from Barcelona for £16.7m their vice-president, Adriano Galliani, declared the club’s buying to be “finished, absolutely.”

Arsenal fans, do you want Adebayor to stay or would you rather see Barca throw £30million in your club’s direction instead? He’s good, but not so good as to hold the key to whether the Gunners succeed next season. Let’s hope that if he does stay, he buckles down to the task in hand and doesn’t throw his toys out of the pram like a spoilt brat.
