According to The Sunday People, Arsenal have re-entered the race with Newcastle United to sign Udinese star Gokhan Inler.
Arsenal are in desperate need of a top class centre midfielder following the exits of Gilberto Silva, Aliaksandr Hleb and Mathieu Flamini.
The Gunners have been linked with a whole host of names, including Gareth Barry, Miguel Veloso, Marcos Senna, Torsten Frings, Yaya Touré, and even Xabi Alonso.
The North Londoners have also been associated with Inler in recent weeks, and The People now claims that the club have re-entered the race to sign him, along with Newcastle. (goal.com)
This could be quite an astute signing as the Swiss international has the hallmarks of a player with promising future who could be set on the road to stardom under the tutelage of Wenger. Glimpses of quality were displayed by the Udinese youngster at Euro 2008, although to be fair he would have found it hard to make an impact with such an average looking side. He could fit into the Flamini role although it may take him a while to be in the same class as the Frenchman. More likely to play more of a squad role initially but could well be a very intelligent purchase. What do Arsenal fans think of this Swiss midfielder?
