Newcastle United look to quality defensive threesome to help ease defensive frailties.
NEWCASTLE United are tracking two Argentina international defenders.
Dennis Wise and Tony Jimenez – who are overseeing the club’s player recruitment – are hoping to land Deportivo La Coruna’s Fabricio Coloccini and Inter Milan’s Nicolas Burdisso.
The pair are stepping up their search for defensive reinforcements, w
ith Kevin Keegan desperately short on numbers at the back.
And Wise and Jimenez are also still hopeful of signing another Argentine on loan – Liverpool left-back Emiliano Insua. (Shields Gazette)
It seems that Wise, Keegan and Co have earmarked their leaky defence for much needed repair work, especially as the imminent two-footed lunges of the insane lunatic known as Joey Barton are about to make a return.
Both Coloccini and Burdisso would be very intelligent signings, both have a good deal of top level experience and both could serve a purpose for Newcastle United. The pair are valued at around at £12m so I guess the question could remain about just how much the club have to spend, clearly King Kev realises this and hence his attempt to lure Insua on loan from Liverpool. Now that could be the wisest addition of the lot. The 19 year old left back looks impressive and it could be that Rafa would consider giving him away on a season long loan given the full backs the club has recently purchased. Who do Toon Army fans think the club should bring in before the season starts?
