Russian playmaker ‘has made a decision’ – is he Tottenham-bound?

Luka Modric claims that the club don’t need Robbie Keane to be successful, and Spurs could be about to immediately compensate for the striker’s departure to Liverpool. They have been after this Russian playmake for a few weeks – will the cash from the Reds go towards capturing one of the stars of Euro 2008?

Andrei Arshavin was all over the back pages of the tabloids a fortnight ago, although it’s all gone quiet on the Russian’s future – until now. Setanta report that the Zenit midfielder has made a decision about where he’ll be playing football next season, but will it be Tottenham, Fiorentina or Barcelona?

When asked directly about those two clubs, he told Sport Express ahead of the match with CSKA Moscow: “I have already taken a final decision. It only remains to finalise it with the club management.

“But, excuse me, I cannot yet [clarify the situation about my exit].”

Spurs fans might have a new hero to cheer from the stands, if indeed Arshavin decides that North London is the place for him. It’s looking promising for Tottenham, especially with Barcelona rumoured to have stalled over the Russian club’s asking price. All will soon be revealed!
