Spanish International Cesar Sanchez, is weighing up an offer from Tottenham Hotspur to take him to White Hart Lane from Real Zaragoza, according to reports in Spain.
Spurs boss Juande Ramos sees the 36-year-old former Real Madrid keeper as ideal cover for recent signing Brazilian International Heurelho Gomes, who joined Tottenham from PSV Eindhoven.
Sanchez has one solitary cap for Spain, gained in 2000 the same year he lost his place to current Spanish keeper Iker Casillas at Real Madrid.
Sanchez has one-year left on his current deal with the Blanquillos, but ha been told by coach Marcelino Garcia that he does not figure in his plans at La Romareda next season as they prepare to bounce straight back into La Liga following relegation last season. (Premiershiplatest.com)
Given that Tottenham are also said to be close to completing a move for former West Ham keeper Steven Bywater, you would be forgiven for thinking that Juande Ramos is getting a little carried away with his goalie purchases, especially given the impressive young Ben Alnwick is also on the club’s books. A move for Sanchez would appear a far wiser one than Bywater. After all, the Spanish international has almost 15 years of La Liga experience under his belt and is clearly just the kind of person who can be called upon should Gomes suffer an injury. Who would Spurs fans rather see deputizing, Sanchez or Bywater?
