Arsenal desperate for a midfielder to shore up what is clearly an area of concern have identified three players that they would like to see at the Emirates, but as usual Arsene Wenger the Arsenal manager will only do a deal if the price is right.

The three players identified are Albanian Lorik Cana though Marseille are holding out for £20million for, Switzerland midfielder Gokhan Inler and also Real Madrid’s Ruben de la Red.

Arsenal are short in midfield and Wenger has admitted this but he will not be pushed in to signing a player at a price that is deemed excessive, Wenger is renowned for buying astutely and he will not ruin that reputation now.

The problem for Arsenal is that Wenger has left it a little late and that will push the price up as the transfer deadline nears and this has proven to be a frustation for the manager though some Arsenal fans feel that he has only himself to blame.

Wenger has yet to make a concrete bid for any of the three but it is expected that he will make a bid for at least one of them within the next week and sources close to the club have stated that a new signing is very close.(

The question is do Arsenal need another midfielder? Denilson was one of the better players on show at the Emirates on the weekend and he is worth an extended run as Cesc’s partner when he is back. Of the three mentioned by this source I would say that De la Red would suit Arsenal the best but like I said I think Arsene would be better off getting another striker as Bendtner proved once again that he is not good enough for a top four side and Adebayor will not have another magical season this term. Eduardo is class but obviously not fully fit and Van Persie is also not quite firing on all cylinders. Who do Gunners fans think they should sign before the summer transfer window slams shut?
