Tottenham face renewed competition from Barcelona in their pursuit of Diego Capel.
White Hart Lane boss Juande Ramos is keen to sign the left winger from his old club Sevilla.
But Barcelona are ready to make a move for the 20-year-old after becoming frustrated with bids for Andrei Arshavin, Rodrigo Palacio and David Silva.
Capel has a release clause of £12.3m in his contract at Sevilla.
Spurs have already made an offer in excess of this, but the Spanish club claim the clause can only be triggered by a bid from a Spanish club.
Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido is likely to resist any approach from Spurs after bitterly fighting Ramos’s own move to White Hart Lane last season. (Mail Online)
Diego Capel is a player that many White Hart Lane regulars apparently want to see in a Spurs shirt but as yet the deal has not been sealed, news of Barca’s interest may well get the move back on course as Sevilla desperately hope to keep hold of the young starlet who was at one time also an Arsenal target. After the deal to bring Arshavin to the club appeared to hit the buffers Ramos will be keen to bring in one or two big names into the club with the money they are apparently about to receive for Berbatov’s move to Manchester United. Do Spurs fans think they can beat the Camp Nou side to Capel’s signature or should they look elsewhere.
