There’s right tug-of-war going on between two of Europe’s largest clubs at the moment. It has appeared as though Chelsea had the upper hand in their bid to wrest the Brazilian forward out of Real Madrid’s grip, but the Spanish champions are clinging on for dear life until they can find a suitable replacement.
The Daily Telegraph claim that the Blues megastore has started taking orders for replica shirts with Robinho’s name on it, although you’d be pretty stupid to buy one while there’s an element of doubt about the transfer.
Sporting Life report that Roman Calderon, who must be exhausted after a summer-long and fruitless pursuit of Cristiano Ronaldo, is not giving up on retaining the player’s services at the Bernabeu. Shoe firmly now on the other foot for Roman as he becomes the prey rather than the predator!
Calderon certainly believes that is the case, stating once again that the player is going nowhere while he remains an integral part of the first-team fold.
“The coach and the sports director want the player to stay and I am sure he will,” Calderon said.
“Our squad is complete and it is impossible for us to have one better than the one we have.”
Everyone seemingly wants the boy from Brazil to stay apart from the footballer himself. Indeed, it would only be fitting that the spoilt brat that is Real Madrid refuse to admit defeat until the player has signed for Chelsea and stuck two fingers in the direction of the Spanish champions and their president.
