Blackburn manager loots former club for latest signing: Can this player cut it in the top flight?

They say that there’s a gulf between the Premier League and Championship, so one can only imagine the supposed chasm that exists between the English top flight and League Two. Nevertheless, players such as Jimmy Bullard and Bobby Zamora have demonstrated that it is possible to make the setp up from the lower league, Blackburn fans will hope their latest signing can do the same.

Football managers regularly return to their former clubs for new signings; after all, you know exactly what you’re getting by doing this. Sky Sports report that Paul Ince has returned to his old stomping ground at MK Dons to sign Keith Andrews, a player who made waves in League Two last season, scoring 14 goals from midfield.

“I’m absolutely delighted to be here, as everyone knows it has been drawn out for a few weeks between the clubs agreeing the fee and what have you, but obviously I’m delighted to be here and to finally get it sorted, I can’t wait to crack on now,” Andrews told the club’s official website.

“Blackburn being a massive club and a Premier League club was a chance that I couldn’t really let go. I did everything in my power to get here, I was pleading with the chairman at MK Dons to get the deal done, and the chance to work with the gaffer once again was obviously a key factor.

“Coming here is a fantastic opportunity for me and it is one that I am really relishing and I hope to take with both hands.”

As well as having an eye for goal, the combative midfielder isn’t afraid to shirk a challenge, picking up fourteen yellows and a red card last season for MK Dons – he should fit into the Blackburn team well then! Blackburn fans, are you encouraged by this signing or sceptical as to whether Andrews can make the huge step up?
