Rafa Benitez appears to have finally rid himself of this misfiring striker, albeit only on a season-long loan deal!
Well let me settle in, won’t you? Liverpool’s Ukraine striker Andriy Voronin has swapped Merseyside for the Bundesliga with a season-long loan to Hertha Berlin. This is going to be electric isn’t it? (BBC Sport)
Liverpool striker Andriy Voronin has agreed a one-year loan switch to Hertha Berlin.
Summer speculation persistently linked the Ukraine international with the Anfield exit following an unsuccessful first campaign in England.
And Voronin, a free signing from Bayer Leverkusen last July, has now agreed a season-long move to the Bundesliga.
A statement on Liverpool’s official website on Monday read: “Andriy Voronin has today agreed a one-year loan deal with German side Hertha Berlin.” (Sky Sports)
I doubt Liverpool fans will lose sleep over this departure and, with any luck, he will impress in the Bundesliga and not return to Anfield. Maybe I’m being harsh – what do Anfield supporters think? He is not as infuriating as Pennant but I guess the irritation was in the length of time it took to get the Ukrainian to Merseyside in the first place and then his good start, all of which was undone by a year of mediocrity!
