The Gunners boss made a late enquiry for the £7million-rated West Ham keeper on Monday but was knocked back.
Wenger still has doubts over Manuel Almunia and knows Green, 28, is unhappy at being one of the Hammers’ lowest earners on around £25,000 a week. (News of the World)
Given the unrest at Upton Park right now, and the fact that the Hammers appear to have financial problems, it does seem like the right time for the Gunners to make this move. However, Almunia has done enough to ensure he’s the first choice, and may not be too happy about such a move. That said, having two quality keepers at the club can only be a good thing and, in the age of 50+ game seasons, there may be more than enough first-team action to share around, although neither keeper will be happy about the occasional Carling Cup run out. Arsene will have to play this situation very carefully!
Do Arsenal supporters think the club needs another keeper at the club?
