This Wenger target is very keen indeed to make the move from northern France to north London, but will his club let him leave?
Stephane M’Bia is determined to leave his current club Rennes and join Arsenal at the first possible opportunity.
M’Bia, 22, claims that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger made a late deadline day approach to sign him but the French club refused to sanction the deal, determined to keep hold of their most highly regarded player.
However, the imposing defensive midfielder, who has been compared to former Arsenal hero Patrick Vieira, has begged Rennes to grant him his desire to play in the Premier League after his £10million move fell through a week ago.
He said: “Rennes are looking to improve my pay, but everyone know’s that I want to move to the Premier League to improve myself and play in the biggest league in the world.
“Arsenal made contact in the final hours of the last transfer window, but Rennes did not want to let me go.” (Telegraph)
It’s always a bit of a poisoned chalice to be dubbed the ”next whatever” but ,to be fair, a player can do little about the media hype and the tags placed on themselves. M’Bia looks pretty decent but comparing him to the great Patrick Vieira could be misleading. However, he does play in a position that Wenger may want to strengthen. Personally I think that Denilson has done a pretty decent job in the central midfield slot and, with Fabregas back, Arsenal have improved dramatically so maybe they don’t need to fork out such a fee for the 22-year-old. Do Gunners fans think that they can manage to mount a serious title challenge with the squad they currently possess?
