According to the source below, Tottenham are ready and set to complete an incredible move for this lethal marksman.
Spurs To Rekindle Hunt For Top Target Huntelaar? Striker Move To Tottenham Very Likely In January
Tottenham Hotspur are apparently readying to bring in an attacking reinforcement in January, with Klaas-Jan Huntelaar reportedly the top target.
Spurs lost two experienced quality strikers in Robbie Keane and Dimitar Berbatov this summer to Liverpool and Manchester United respectively, at the back of Jermain Defoe’s move to Portsmouth last January.
Juande Ramos’ side, who aim to break into the top-four bracket in the league table this season, only managed to bring in unproven replacements in the form of Russia international Roman Pavlyuchenko from Spartak Moscow, and young Fraizer Campbell on loan from Manchester United.
As such, it looks very likely that Spurs will enter the winter transfer market to bolster their attack, which currently has only recognised Premiership striker in Darren Bent, who has not exactly fired on all cylinders for the north-Londoners since his last summer’s big-money move from Charlton Athletic.
Spurs were linked to Ajax’s Dutch goal-scoring machine Huntelaar this summer, but the price tag of £20m apparently put them off. However, it seems unlikely that the asking price could come down in the winter window, but Spurs, depending on the performances until then, may make a move for the prolific player. Wigan Athletic’s Emile Heskey has also been linked with the White Hart Lane side in view of a New Year move. (Premiershiplatest.com)
Everyone wants to sign this Dutch master and, whilst it appears he is happy at Ajax, he has also made noises about wanting to give the Premier League a go. Manchester United and Arsenal have previously been linked with a move for the 25-year-old but, for differing reasons, those two clubs may not be targeting Huntelaar any longer. The combination of Pavlyuchenko and Klaas would be a deadly one, but I don’t believe this deal is as surefire as this report suggests.
Do Spurs fans think that the club needs another star striker or can Bent and Roman work well as a pairing?
