According to the source below, Wenger is closing in on a Wolves player who has all the hallmarks of a star of the future.
Wenger wants to sign Wolves’ Wales international keeper Wayne Hennessey in the next window – by offering £5million. The Gunners held back on a summer bid for Hennessey, but now want competition for Manuel Almunia. (Daily Mirror)
Mick McCarthy will be loathe to lose his top keeper but it seems unlikely that if given the chance ,the youngster would turn down such a move. At just 21, he has already shown maturity beyond his years since breaking into the Molineux set-up and has made the number one spot his own.
In many ways the Wales keeper would suit the Emirates side perfectly. In Almunia they have a safe pair of hands and instead of purchasing an older keeper who would challenge the Spaniard for a spot he has earned with some great performances, a youngster like Hennessey could progress into the role and challenge him in a year or two.
Do Gunners fans think they need another keeper or can they count on Fabianski as cover for their number one?
