Liverpool consider truly SHOCKING £3m bid: Crazy!

This source, and a questionable one at that, has announced today that a former Anfield man could be heading back to the club. But quite frankly I will eat my spleen if this ever happens!

MARTIN O’NEILL wants to sign Emile Heskey (right) for a knockdown £3million — eight years after selling him for £11million to Liverpool.
But the Villa boss faces competition from the Anfield giants after Kop sources identified Heskey as the man to bolster their strike force alongside Fernando Torres and Robbie Keane.
Heskey’s contract with Wigan is up next summer and boss Steve Bruce might be forced to take a cut-price offer when the transfer window opens in January.
Heskey, though, is intent on concentrating on keeping his international place after starring against Croatia.
He said: “I hope this is the start of a long run in the England team. But the manager views different games in different ways. He is very clever like that and will change tactics totally for each specific game.” (News of the World)

Quite how this story came about one can only imagine. This could well be a case of some very hungover journalists dreaming up a story for the sake of it. Heskey performed admirably against Croatia, and whilst he isn’t the worst striker in the world, his one dimensional ability and his inability to score very many goals would surely count against him ever being considered as a potential Rafa signing.

Liverpool could well do with another striker to share the load or to act as cover for either Keane or Torres but let’s not forget that Liverpool are sitting pretty in joint top so maybe there isn’t such a crisis to resolve. It would also surprise me if Aston Villa moved for the 30-year-old front man. After all, they have the likes of Carew and Agbonlahor to count on as first-team starters and they don’t exactly have any problems scoring goals as they managed 71 in the league last term and have scored six in their first three games this season.

My bet would be that Heskey will end up staying at the JJB. Do Liverpool fans think there is any way on earth Emile would be coming back to Merseyside?
