Some believe that Wenger is still to effectively replace Gilberto and Flamini and, if that is the case, then the player Arsene is closing in on should work wonders!
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger may go back for free agent Stephen Appiah in the coming days.
Wenger has held talks with Appiah, who has been released by Fenerbahce, but took a close look at Brazilian Mineiro as an alternative.
The Gunners manager has decided against offering terms to Mineiro and is now weighing up returning to the negotiating table for Appiah. (tribalfootball.com)
Denilson has done a fine job alongside Cesc this season but many feel that he is better offensively than as a battling tackler and that Arsenal still need a player to do the dirty work in the middle of the park. With that in mind, Appiah would in many ways be a great signing. The former Juventus man has bags of experience and it’s only a series of injuries that have caused his career to stutter rather than any lack of ability. The fact that he would cost nothing and is out of contract count in the Ghanaian’s favour, but will the French genius complete the deal? Do Gunners fans feel such a signing is necessary, or would he be better off getting in another centre-back?
