According to emerging reports, a Dubai-based consortium is on the verge of taking over the Premier League side Newcastle United after the current beleaguered owner Mike Ashley – along with his associates Dennis Wise and Tony Jiminez – are reported to have flown out to Dubai and are currently embroiled in deep discussion with Dubai Sports City (DSC).
DBC is a £4billion consortium and their main man, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, is said to be keen on buying the club. They are eager to pay Ashley as much as £480million, although the firm’s representatives have denied making any concrete offer.
A Chinese consortium and Indian business tycoon Anil Ambani also seemed to have been interested in buying the club. At the moment it seems Ashley is simply desperate to get the Newcastle United albatross from around his neck.
