Is O’Leary the man for Newcastle United?

Newcastle United are in a mess at the moment with club owner Mike Ashley seemingly taking an expedition across the world to try to force the albatross onto someone else’s neck.

Without a manager at the moment following Kevin Keegan’s departure earlier this month, it seem no one is prepared to come anywhere near the club. No one except a certain David O’Leary, that is.

It has now been reported that the former Leeds United manager could take the reins at St. James’ Park for a short period until a full-time manager can be found.

Newcastle’s managing director Derek Llambias has been entrusted with the task of seeking out appropriate candidates for the manager’s job and it seems he would like to take O’Leary on board.

The Irishman has been out of a managerial job since he left Aston Villa two years ago. But would he be a good choice for the Geordies? Well, something is better than nothing, right?
