Rafa will be pleased to see his side still unbeaten after a season that has already seen them go head to head with Man United and Everton, but now he has been linked with a double raid that would be very ambitious indeed!
According to reports this morning, Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez is lining up a bid to take two of Juande Ramos’ top stars to Anfield.
The young Welsh defender Gareth Bale is top of his list and he is wanted by Benitez as competition for Fabio Aurelio, and he wants Lennon to give more attacking options on the right wing.
It would take a bid of at least £30million to take the pair to Anfield, and as Juande Ramos is trying to build his team at White Hart Lane, it is extremely unlikely that he would let either player go without a fight.
But it won’t be forgotten that Spurs only recently let star striker Robbie Keane move north to Anfield, so perhaps the two managers could come to another agreement. (footylatest.com)
Putting in a bid for this pair would be a very audacious move, but would it be one that would be turned down flat? Aaron Lennon has found it hard to get a regular first-team start, so he may well be allowed to leave and would surely like the idea of a move to the Merseyside giants. Bale on the other hand may be a tougher call (as mentioned in a separate piece), but I guess there is no harm registering an interest in a player with such ability at such a young age. Also the club’s American owners may well be more likely to hand the Spanish boss some cash if Liverpool are up amongst the leaders come January. Which position do Liverpool fans think they may need to strengthen when the window re-opens?
