The rumours linking Redknapp with a raid on his former club will continue ad infinitum until January, and this source merely illustrates this further!
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is ready to go back to Portsmouth for midfielder Lassana Diarra in January.
The Times says there is no clause preventing Redknapp from returning to Fratton Park to try to sign players. Diarra, the former Arsenal midfield player, is his prime target and he added that he wished that Jermain Defoe, the England striker, whom he brought to Fratton Park from Spurs for £7.5 million, was still at the North London club. As far as I can tell, Tottenham fans would be keen on Defoe returning, and you can’t blame them as he is a natural born finisher who scores with alarming regularity. Since he left WHL for Portsmouth, he has managed 15 goals in 24 games and that isn’t too shoddy is it!
Given the reported financial mire Portsmouth are in, it does seem likely they will need to sell. Personally I think Diarra would be an even wiser purchase, as he would steady the club’s midfield and help push the attack forward in his own direct fluid style. The players will cost around £22m for the pair, although maybe Levy can get them for less given the problems at the south coast side. Which of these two would the north London club’s fans most like to see at the club?
