Will Chelsea swoop for this £30million Manchester City player in the summer?

The Stamford Bridge club still seem to think that they’re on striker short of a full set, despite having Didier Drogba, Nicolas Anelka and Salomon Kalou on their books. While nobody can say that Chelsea have been short of goals this season, it appears as though they’re keen on this forward, who is making waves at Eastlands.

It would be an incredible coup if Chelsea were able to sign Robinho this summer, despite missing out on the Brazilian last August. Manchester City beat them to the player’s signature, although The Independent reports that Phil Scolari hasn’t given up hope of snaring him.

Chelsea are considering whether to renew their interest in Robinho despite the Brazilian’s record £32.5m move to Manchester City at the end of August. The club are examining the attacking options available to manager Luiz Felipe Scolari, with a realisation that it is an area of the squad that is vulnerable, and are still smarting over their failure to sign the 24-year-old striker during the summer.

Even if Chelsea were super desperate to get their hands on Robinho, it is highly doubtful that Manchester City would be prepared to sell their star asset. After all, the Abu Dhabi United Group are looking to strengthen the squad and make them into Premier League title challengers, and allowing the player to leave would be a massive backward step.
