This hard working right sided player who has a penchant for one great goal a year has yet again been linked with a move abroad!
Alvaro Arbeloa has played down reports suggesting he could soon swap Liverpool Football Club for Atletico Madrid in the New Year transfer window.
The Spanish fullback is believed to be a target for the Vicente Calderon side, but he has wasted little time in insisting his immediate future remains at Anfield with the Reds.
“I have a contract with Liverpool for one more year,” Arbeloa said.
“We’ve not spoken about renewing it…It seems to me a little soon to talk about this.” (fansfc.com)
This Spaniard has been linked with a move back to his homeland for some time now and his recent comments should hopefully keep the speculation at bay, or perhaps not. Arbeloa has been a consistent performer at the club since he arrived in January 2007 and he is the kind of player fans appreciate. He is not a ground breaking kind of player but he does what is necessary and rarely makes mistakes and was a bargain when he arrived from Deportivo. Benitez will be keen to keep him and should be able to convince the full back to sign a new deal in due course. Do Liverpool fans think that Alvaro will stick with the club?
