This international is reportedly keen to sample the delights of the Premier League, and Harry Redknapp apparently sees him as a solution to the lack of bite in the midfield, so can this dream deal become a reality?
Tottenham continue to scour Europe and beyond in search of an experienced midfielder that will has some steel to what Harry Redknapp considers the biggest weakness in the Tottenham team, the midfield.
Torsten Frings the German midfielder currently at Werder Bremen has been linked with Tottenham via the German media, Frings it has been reported would relish the chance of playing in the Premiership after talking with Michael Ballack his former international team mate.
At 31 Frings is hardly on the young side but he is vastly experienced and Redknapp knows that experience is lacking in the centre of the team and Frings would an ideal purchase.
Tottenham are certainly top heavy in the middle but with youth and the purchase of Frings would balance that out, a fee in the region of €3 million would be enough to tempt Werder Bremen to release Frings. (footylatest.com)
There are some rumoured targets that simply cut through the oodles of clearly insane and unlikely moves, and actually seem to fit perfectly. The targeting of Torsten Frings is one such case. This hugely-experienced German international has been there and done that, and still has a few years in the tank. He would probably jump at the chance of a move to the Premier League.
After 11 years in the Bundesliga, the former Bayern Munich man would no doubt revel in the cash-rich top tier of English football and, what’s more, he is more than likely to be able to deal with its demands. The bustling midfielder manages to act as both a midfield enforcer, as well as being able to push defence into attack, and does of course have a reputation of scoring at will from distance. Do Tottenham fans think that Torsten would be a clever signing?
