It seems that Rafa could well do with a left-sided solution, and this England man could be just what the doctor ordered!
Liverpool Football Club would love to add Wayne Bridge to their squad.
Anfield manager Rafael Benitez is keen to sign a new left-back when the transfer window opens in the New Year, and his top target is believed to be England international ace Bridge.
However, the Spaniard privately concedes he is unlikely to be able to persuade Chelsea coach Luiz Felipe Scolari to sell a member of their first team squad to a title rival.
Benitez, though, may be willing to bide his time in his quest to sign former Southampton defender Bridge, with a £7million bid at the end of the season a possibility. (fansfc.com)
Given the failure of Andrea Dossena in a Liverpool shirt, it is not surprising to see Rafa linked with another left-back. Aurelio has improved of late, but I think that Wayne Bridge is a better all round player and the kind of reliable player you want bombing down the flanks, as well as coping manfully in defence. Given the England international is merely injury cover for Ashley Cole, I am sure the former Southampton man would jump at the chance of a move to Anfield, but it would probably be a move that Scolari will try to block, given the fact that Benitez’s team are currently their main challengers for the title.
