Toon boss Kinnear is looking for some cash, and is therefore resorting to convincing anyone of the value to be had from these two failures!
Newcastle United boss Joe Kinnear is ready to listen to offers for two of his foreign defenders.
The Daily Star says Kinnear is putting Brazilian centre-half Claudio Cacapa and Spanish fullback Jose Enrique up for sale ahead of the January market. (tribalfootball.com)
I think it’s fair to say that neither of these Sam Allardyce signings has covered themselves in glory, and it’s no surprise that Joe is willing to hear offers for them, but will anyone really be willing to use actual cash to sign them? Take Brazilian international Cacapa, anyone who saw his amazingly odd performance against Portsmouth last season (when he was subbed after just 18 minutes) must have thought the former Lyon man had been replaced by the lead character on Quantum Leap, who had just found himself in the body of a professional footballer and not known what to do.
He has got better since that point, but has at no stage looked like a player good enough for the Premier League. Spanish left-back Enrique started badly also, but has got a great deal more consistent, although is still not worth the 6m+ that was forked out for his services. Do any Newcastle fans want to see either player given another chance to prove their worth at St James’ Park?
