The German star is set to become the next big thing for City.
Bayern Munich striker Lukas Podolski is a reported transfer target for Manchester City, who are looking to flex their financial muscles, and could make a £12 million bid for the German star during the January transfer window.
The Germany international has fallen out of favour at the Allianz Arena and has been told he can leave by the Bayern hierarchy.
The 23-year-old striker has recently admitted that he would be open to a move away from Der FCB and with former club Cologne, Roma as well as City interested, the striker is in high demand. However, the Polish born player has also stated that he is willing to fight for his place with the current Bundesliga champions. (goal.com)
Lukas Podolski is a class act and the kind of player who I feel will revel in the Premier League. If Mark Hughes can ward off fellow Premier League suitors for the German international signature, which apparently includes Tottenham and Everton, then he will have nabbed a player who can definitely help the club push on towards the top four. Man City have a number of strikers but I wouldn’t call any of them, aside from Robinho, as real world class players and if the Eastlands outfit is to make that step up then a signing such as this would be a big step in the right direction. Do City fans believe that the likes of Benjani, Bojinov,Jo and Vassell are good enough for a club with ambitions of a Champions League spot?
