Yes, you read the headline correctly! And no, i didn’t make it up!
Manchester City are willing to pay Real Madrid a staggering £110 MILLION for goalkeeper Iker Casillas.
Spain’s SER says the offer is in writing and currently being held by Casillas’ new agent, Luis Garcia Abad.
Initially, City made contact with Garcia Abad to table an offer of £90 million, with Casillas receiving a proposed £9 million-a-year. But the Spain No1 rejected the approach out of hand.
That didn’t deter City, however, and ten days later they returned with an improved offer of £110 million – the goalkeeper’s buyout clause – plus personal terms worth £9.5 million-a-year for Casillas to consider.
The offer has been made in writing, but Garcia Abad is yet to pass it onto Real as Casillas again has indicated he’s not interested in a move to Eastlands. (tribalfootball.com)
Oh my lord! Maybe the Eastlands club needs to re-think its transfer strategy. Yes the Real Madrid may well be one of the best keepers in the world but he is not made up of precious stones or a highly prized Van Gogh. I have said it before and I will say it again, Mark Hughes is a smart man and he needs to impose his intelligence on the money crazed board and tell them who they should a) buy and b) who they can realistically attract and c) to maybe give the impression that money is in fact not in endless supply and therefore avoid being ripped off. I’ll give you a good example of what I mean. A report comes out saying Khaldoon Al Mubarak wants Fernando Torres which is a bridge too far and Mark Hughes continues to chase Roque Santa Cruz, which is a very clever alternative. And apart from anything else, don’t Man City have a great keeper as it is, England’s future custodian and current international Joe Hart!
Brand New Feature. (1-10 scale, One = Pure make believe, Ten = is a transfer all but complete)
