Ramos’s successor, Harry Redknapp, would see an £8million deal for Zokora as good business.

He may try to replace Zokora with Diarra or Reo-Coker, who is not playing in his favoured position at Villa.

Redknapp has also targeted goalkeeper Robert Green, right-back Glen Johnson, midfielder Stewart Downing and striker Jermain Defoe, and needs to sell to buy.

Zokora would be keen on Madrid after saying: “I’m in the world’s biggest league, so it will be hard to find something better. But I’ve never hidden my interest in playing in La Liga.(Daily Express)

The Daily Express has got a little carried away with this one I think although just about every player mentioned in this piece has of course been referred to an inordinate amount of times in the media I find some far more likely than others. Harry Redknapp is of course a big fan of Lassana Diarra, Glen Johnson and Jermain Defoe but I feel it is unlikely that Portsmouth will offload all and sundry in January although of course they need cash to avert a financial crisis. Diarra was seemingly on his way to Manchester City but I do feel that the re-signing of Defoe would be a masterstroke if the new Spurs boss could pull it off. Reo-Coker may not be happy at Aston Villa at present I feel he is too inconsistent to consider a big money move for. My feelings on Downing have been expressed before. So perhaps Robert Green would be the most likely candidate for a move to White Hart Lane. West Ham are in a far more dire situation than Pompey and even though Gomes has improved of late I still get the impression that Harry would replace him the minute he could find a reliable keeper at the right price and the England international could well fit the bill. Who of these six do Tottenham fans most like the sound of?
