This source suggests that Arsene is ready to break the bank for this top notch defender!
Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini is a transfer window target for Arsenal – if they decide to unload William Gallas.
Gallas is wanted by Juventus who are managed by Claudio Ranieri, the man who brought him into English football from Marseille when he was in charge at Chelsea.
Ranieri wants to be reunited with Gallas, who had a huge public fall-out with Arsenal over his criticism of his teammates.
Gallas is known to be keen on one more opportunity to play for a high-profile European club and Ranieri is set to give him that chance.
In return, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger would want 24-year-old Chiellini.
He is an accomplished centre-back and would represent a significant investment for the future.
The drawback for Wenger will be the asking price. While Gallas, at 31, would cost only £5million, Juventus would want at least three times that figure for Chiellini. (Daily Mirror)
Giorgio Chiellini is an accomplished defender who is now a regular in Marcello Lippi’s Italian national team and if Wenger could secure the 24 year old talent it would more than make up for the likely loss of William Gallas. The former Fiorentina man has been instrumental in the return to prominence of the Turin side helping them to the Serie B title and their third place finish on their return to Serie A. It would take a record breaking bid to capture the centre back apparently but if Wenger did make the move it would be well worth the money if indeed Ranieri accepted the bid. Do Arsenal fans think that the club should make such a move for the Italian international?
