This Nottingham lad looks like he may have played his last game for the club!
Jermaine Pennant could walk away from Liverpool as a FREE AGENT at the end of the season.
The Sunday Mirror says under the terms of the contract Pennant signed when he arrived at Anfield from Birmingham two years ago, he will become a free agent at the end of the season unless he makes 15 first-team appearances.
If Pennant reaches that number, Liverpool have the option of extending his contract by a further year.
But so far the 25-year-old has played in only four games and has been told by Rafa Benitez that he is surplus to requirements. Blackburn and Stoke are keen. (tribalfootball.com)
The fact that Pennant has apparently turned down moves to many interested parties has apparently angered Rafa but either way it seems likely the former Arsenal man really doesn’t have much of a future at the club. One wonders what the future holds for the wide man, he has the ability to make it but maybe he is more likely to develop as a player if he moved to a club where he is guaranteed a first team start and can then get a run of games under his belt. Whilst its true that he has been branded a troublemaker in the past I think in many ways he has turned over a new leaf by trying to buckle down and fight for a place in the Anfield eleven but he simply can’t manage that and a new challenge may be the best for all concerned. Do Liverpool fans think that they ever got to see the best of the former England Under 21 international?
