After a 3-0 win away at Pompey there is even more good news as their blustering boss makes it loud and clear about this much speculated striker!
Newcastle boss Joe Kinnear says Michael Owen will not be sold in the January transfer window even if the striker refuses to sign a new contract.
The striker’s contract expires in the summer and he will meet Kinnear on Tuesday to discuss a new deal.
“Michael knows I want him to stay and we won’t be accepting any offers for him,” Kinnear told BBC Sport.
“There is no point in taking any money for Michael when he can score 15 or 20 goals a season for us.” (BBC Sport)
Joe Kinnear arrived at St James’ Park amid a flurry of four letter words but no one can deny the impact he has had on the club. Just two defeats in eleven matches have steadied the ship and with Michael Owen back in good form the club will be confident of beating the drop and surely the Toon Army will be happy to hear the news that the club has no intention of losing the England international! So Newcastle United fans, do you think Joe can keep the club above the perforated line?
