This deal really doesn’t seem a very even swap and even if the White Hart Lane outfit was offered a load of cash as well it would still not make this deal any more likely!
The Bianconeri have reportedly targeted a January swoop for Croatian international Luka Modric, who only joined Spurs in the summer in a £17million move from Dinamo Zagreb.
After a slow start to life in England the midfield playmaker has blossomed under the management of Harry Redknapp, who will be hugely reluctant to let him leave White Hart Lane.
However, reports in Italy suggest Juventus will tempt the Premier League side with an offer of around £10million plus out-of-favour Italian international striker Vincenzo Iaquinta. (fansfc.com)
Well this is clearly a deal that Harry Redknapp would consider for all of a split second. Clearly under the new boss Luka has become a much more consistent player and any thoughts he may have had of leaving the club must surely have been quashed given the fantastic run of form both he and the side in general have had. At the start of the season the diminutive Croatian seemed to disappear for big periods but now he seems to pop up all over the park and looks much more like the player who wowed us all at the Euro 2008 finals. As for the carrot of Iaquinta being thrown into the mix, well I fail to see how a 29 year old striker who has managed just two goals in 12 Serie A appearances this term and who is in fact way down the pecking order for the club would act as any incentive to complete such a deal! Are Tottenham fans worried that Juande may try to tempt Modric into joining Real Madrid?
