This source suggests that Harry is looking to spend spend spend!
Harry Redknapp has told chairman Daniel Levy he must seriously beef-up the Spurs squad to stand any chance of gatecrashing the top four.
Glen Johnson: Redknapp thinks the England full-back is a Rolls Royce defender who will give his side an extra dimension.
Matthew Upson: West Ham’s financial problems mean the increasingly mature centre-half is available at the right price.
Stewart Downing: Spurs have been linked with the England winger (above, right) for four years. This time Boro could be ready to sell.
Fernando Cavenaghi: Bordeaux’s Argentine striker has been a target for a month and fancies a move to England. (Daily Mirror)
Ok, so here’s a fine assortment of talent that Redknapp wants to bring in when the transfer window re-opens in a couple of weeks time. Of the four outlined moves for Glen Johnson and Matthew Upson would be perfect signings and are at the peak of their respective career’s it seems and both are England squad regulars and could fit in well in the current starting eleven. I am not a big fan of Stewart Downing and don’t see that he would be a great investment and Cavenaghi wouldn’t constitute an improvement on what Tottenham already have on the payroll so not sure there is any sense in that move. West Ham are of course in financial turmoil and whilst Zola won’t want to see his centre back to leave he may not have much of say in the matter. Portsmouth are in a similar position with Gaydamek looking to sell the club and therefore they will surely lose a player or two either in January or the summer and Glen would probably jump at the chance of working with his former boss again. Who out of these four do Spurs fans most want to see arrive at White Hart Lane?
